Going to School in Sacramento, California
While Los Angeles and San Francisco may receive more attention the Sacrament region has quietly evolved and emerged as one of the five “most livable” regions in the United States. The region is in the midst of explosive growth and is poised to add a projected 1 million new inhabitants in the next 25 years.
The leaders of Sacramento and surrounding communities are aggressively planning for this growth and seem quite prepared to handle the influx of people and new business.
Sacramento was founded by John Sutter Jr., the son of the infamous proprietor of Sutter’s Mill, site of the gold discovery that prompted the California Gold Rush.
Just a few years later the city was named the permanent home of the state capital. The city prospered and became the home of the western end of the Pony Express and the Transcontinental Railroad.
Today Sacrament offers everything one could want from a major city. Sacramento is home to the NBA Kings and the WNBA Monarchs.
There are numerous entertainment venues including a variety of excellent theater groups. Whitewater enthusiasts will enjoy the many thrilling rapids on rivers surrounding the city. Old Sacramento is the site of the annual Jazz Jubilee and the city is also home to the California State Fair which can draw up to a million visitors annually.
