Everest University

Everest University is owned by Corinthian Colleges International, Inc, a career college organization that owns over 100 colleges in the US and Canada.  The Everest University division of Corinthian Colleges consists of ten campuses across Florida that offer diploma programs and degree programs at the Associate, Bachelor’s and Master’s levels.

An Everest University Admissions Advisor will assist potential students through the admission process.  Students complete a career placement test to help them set educational and career goals.

At Everest University, the knowledge component of education is combined with skills practice to prepare students very specifically for a career. The classes are structured with adults in mind, and flexible class schedules allow students to attend school while working and managing life responsibilities.

Massage Therapy

Massage Therapy is presented at Everest University as one of the Health Career program options.  It is a nine-month course that leads to a diploma in Massage Therapy. Massage therapists need a good foundational academic background, technical expertise and clinical skills to perform their jobs.  They also need the ability to communicate effectively and to work well with other members of the health care team.  Many massage therapists are self-employed, so business skills are part of Everest University’s curriculum.

Students of the massage therapy program learn Swedish and deep tissue massage; neuromuscular and orthopedic assessment; the ability to assess, document and communicate; legal and ethical aspects of massage therapy; adjunct and non-traditional massage therapies and business management.

When they graduate, students are ready to practice independently as massage therapists or to apply for employment in health care, physical therapy, chiropractic, stress management and spa facilities.  Career placement services are available for students seeking employment.

Attending Massage School in Brandon, Florida

Brandon is essentially a bedroom community of Tampa…a rather large bedroom community. The Brandon community has an identity all is own with a community hospital, a cultural center but does not have its own postal code.

The area was settled by the Brandon family in the late 19th century. The area grew from a family settlement to a town slowly. Gradually various facilities were added to accommodate growth but the town never held more than a few hundred citizens until the 1950s. That’s when things took off for Brandon. Schools were added, a Chamber of Commerce was formed and the roads to Tampa were improved.

As access to Tampa became easier, more commuters settled in Brandon and the areas suburban profile began to develop. I-75 came through in 1986 and the population in the area skyrocketed to 100,000. While the official census pegs the population at around 78,000, it is estimated that the population around Brandon may now be close to 250,000.

This kind of growth bodes well for a massage therapist seeking to begin a career.
