United Education Institute
The United Education Institute has been preparing students for satisfying careers for over 25 years. The school has seven California campuses and several national affiliates. Their motto is, “Your success is our success,” and their mission is to impart the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for a successful career to students.
UEI instructors meet frequently with advisory committees made of industry professionals to keep the curriculum up to date and job-focused. Students learn the skills employers want: technical skills related to their job and “employability skills” like dependability, communication and professionalism.
UEI wants students to succeed at school and in their careers. To that end, they have a thorough admissions process and comprehensive career services. Admission begins with an application and an interview with an Admissions Professional to discuss the school and the student’s career goals. If the student is recommended for admission by the Admissions Professional, he or she has a final interview with the Director of Admissions. To be admitted to UEI, students must have a high school diploma or equivalent, pass an entrance exam, and exhibit the desire, commitment and ability to succeed.
Prior to graduation, students receive instruction and assistance with resume writing, practice interviewing skills and learn job search skills. Students also receive career placement assistance.
Massage Therapy
UEI’s massage therapy program takes 9 months and leads to a diploma in Massage Therapy. Students are eligible for licensure through the National certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB). Although this program is intended primarily for students who plan to be self-employed, students do find employment in health and wellness businesses, resorts, hotels, rehabilitation and physical therapy departments.
Students receive hands-on instruction in a clinical environment. Classes are small so that students receive individual attention from instructors.
Students learn anatomy and physiology related to the musculoskeletal system, how to take a health history and how to develop a treatment plan. They learn a broad range of massage therapy skills, including deep tissue, Swedish, sports and chair massage, Shiatsu, reflexology and non-traditional massage approaches.
Faculty/Facilities
Faculty are experienced massage therapists who have worked in a variety of settings. They are dedicated to teaching students the skills they need in an environment that is caring and encourages success.
Students practice massage techniques in a hands-on clinical environment that is similar to what they will encounter in work situations.
Financial Aid
All students are encouraged to complete a FAFSA form and to meet with the Financial Planning Department. Students who qualify may receive scholarships and financial aid from Federal, State and private programs. Students must be enrolled in the school and have a personal appointment with a member of the Financial Aid staff before assistance can be awarded.
