About the School

IntelliTec Medical Institute (IMI) is a Colorado-based vocational training center providing degrees and certifications in a variety of  healthcare careers. In operation for over 40 years, many graduates of IMI go on to work in area companies.

Unlike many other private, career-focused schools, IMI is fairly small and select, and works to build good relationships with the community rather than to simply expand to new campuses. Every degree program offered here is chosen after careful consideration and planning, and students can rest assured that their education is designed to be handled in a way that meets their goals for the future.

 Programs

Massage Therapist-Certificate — Massage Therapist-Degree —  Short-Term Massage Therapy

The Massage Therapist program culminates in an Associate of Occupational Studies (AOS) degree, and graduates are eligible to sit for state and national exams in massage therapy. Coursework includes an array of modalities and techniques, including Swedish massage, Shiatsu, deep tissue massage, reflexology, neuromuscular therapy, sports massage, hot stone massage, and prenatal massage. In most cases, students can complete the course within two years.

The Certificate in Massage Therapy program offers a shorter training period of just 8 months. Although it is not a degree program, qualifying students are eligible to sit for the certified massage therapist exam. A more concentrated education provides training on various modalities as well as anatomy and physiology, stress management, and business development.

Faculty

All instructors are working professionals who have experience in their chosen fields. For massage therapy, this means they run their own practices or have worked in a medical or therapeutic capacity related to muscle manipulation and massage. Many of the instructors offer office hours for additional support outside of the lecture or laboratory setting.

Facilities

Class sizes are designed to be small, and the laboratory settings are kept up-to-date with industry standards. Although the campus itself isn’t large or expansive, the school takes the time to ensure that the atmosphere is academic and focused on real-world results. In fact, each program ends with an externship program that places students in the working world. Many of these externships lead to employment, though it isn’t a guarantee.

Accreditation

IMI is accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools. It is also approved by the Colorado Department of Higher Education’s Private Occupational School Board, giving it the right to grant degrees and certificates at the AOS level.

Financial Aid

Financial aid is available to those who qualify. The school relies on various sources of financial assistance, which range from government programs (offered by filling out the required FAFSA forms) to private financial assistance through a bank loan. Most students rely on a combination of scholarships, grants, loans, and work-study options. IMI offers its own Financial Aid Office, which is there to help potential students explore their funding options or create a payment plan with the school itself.
