The National Holistic Institute (NHI) is one of the largest and most respected massage therapy schools in the country.
Founded in 1979, NHI is dedicated to training and placing professional massage therapists that have the capability of assessing and successfully treating clients. NHI has pioneered a comprehensive 720-hour training program and is nationally accredited.
Massage Therapy Program
The massage therapy program at National Holistic Institute is considered on of the best in the nation. Students are taught a wide variety of massage techniques. They will be instructed in the methods of evaluating the needs of each individual and developing a program of customized massage to meet those needs.
Students will learn Swedish massage, sports massage and acupressure/shiatsu massage, deep tissue massage, seated massage and energizing massage to name a few. They will also learn how to perform assessments and customize a massage session, professional draping procedures and body mechanics.
An effective massage therapist will be thoroughly familiar with the human body. Courses include instruction about the structure and function of the musculo-skeletal system, including the origin, insertion, and action of muscles; range of motion; postural analysis; and kinesiology.
The best possible reflection on NHI is the success and positive reputation of our graduates. To that end, NHI places strong emphasis on learning the practical business skills necessary to establish and manage a massage therapy practice. Over 80% of the graduates of the College of Massage Therapy at National Holistic Institute work in massage therapy.
NHI provides two quite unique and invaluable opportunities for students to gain practical experience. At the NHI Student Clinic, students can apply the skills they are learning to members of the public. Over 1,000 appointments each month provide students a chance to use the skill they are learning and offer instructors a chance to evaluate and assist students.
The NHI Externship program allows students to select from hundreds of locations as they enter a real-world massage therapy environment and practice massage under the supervision of massage professionals. This type of on-site experience provides valuable networking opportunities as well as some flavor of the exceptional career that awaits graduates of NHI.
Accreditation
NHI was the first nationally accredited massage school in California. The school is nationally accredited by the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET).
