Keiser Career College was originally the Cruise Career Training Institute and was established in 1988 to meet the employment needs of the cruise industry. It was taken over in 1994 by Arthur and Belinda Keiser. In the years since then, the scope of the school has expanded to include career education in business, computer and healthcare fields and several campuses have been added throughout Florida. The name was changed to Keiser Career Institute in 1997.
Keiser Career College is a career education school, which means that it focuses on preparing students for careers in a variety of technical fields. Learning tends to be practical, with hands-on and skill application taking precedence over classroom time. At the same time, the school provides excellent concurrent academic instruction so that students gain an excellent theoretical background for their chosen career.
Classes are small, and the instructors have both advanced formal education and clinical experience in nursing. The goal is to create a learning environment similar to what the student will find in his or her work setting upon graduation.
The Diploma and Associate’s Degree programs in Massage Therapy prepares graduates to seek employment in a myriad of health care settings. Coursework includes advanced holistic, clinical and technical skills, reflexology, acupuncture, trigger point therapy, and aromatherapy.
In addition, students will learn about hydrotherapy, massage law, the prevention of medical errors, and allied modalities. With the Associate of Science program taking a more in-depth approach, graduates of either program will be well-prepared to seek entry-level employment as a massage therapist in a variety of settings.
A Diploma program, the Paramedical Esthetician curriculum at Keiser Career Institute is designed to give graduates the skills needed in order to seek entry-level employment in this exciting field.
In addition to learning how to provide pre-surgical skin treatments, students of this program will also learn how to perform post-operative skin care procedures, under the guidance of a licensed health care provider. Coursework also includes advanced skin care techniques, health and beauty techniques, and procedures designed to counteract the aging process. Classwork combines lecture and clinical settings.
An Associate of Science program, the Spa Management curriculum at Keiser University focuses on the skills needed in order to efficiently run, direct, and manage the operations of a spa establishment. In addition to customer service, coursework deals with human resources, retailing, marketing, and accounting. Graduates of this program will be well prepared to seek employment in spa-related fields, and will also be trained in spa treatments, aromatherapy, cosmetics, color theory, skin care, and other general education classes.
