Hialeah is in Miami-Dade County and it is estimated that the population is approximately 225,000. The cultural personality of the city is well known with a quite varied population representing many Latin American countries and the islands of the Caribbean.
Hialeah has a colorful past. During the 1920s Hialeah was basically a party town with plenty of activities to keep visitors and residents entertained. Thousands enjoyed jai-alai and greyhound racing regularly. There was also a movie studio in Hialeah producing silent movies.
The original vision for Hialeah was as a place for the rich and famous to entertain and amuse themselves. However, the Cuban revolution resulted in an influx of Cuban exiles and the new residents turned Hialeah into a working-class area. This migration continued through the 70s, 80s and 90s with strongly positive results.
