Florida Massage SchoolLakeland is a city on the move and a great location for anyone contemplating embarking on a massage therapy career.  The city has experienced dramatic growth in the past few years with a population that has increased from just over 78,000 in 2000 to more than 100,000 citizens today.

Lakeland is relatively young being founded in the late 19th century as the railroad pushed south. The Florida boom saw a great deal of building and many structures erected in that era still stand as historical landmarks.

Unfortunately, the boom went bust and Lakeland didn’t begin to recover until the 1930s when the Detroit Tigers made Lakeland their home for spring training. In addition, the Lakeland Municipal Airport was developed making the region more accessible.

Lakeland is strategically located between Tampa and Orlando in central Florida. The city offers residents and visitors a wide array of sports, entertainment, cultural and educational activities. Lakeland is a pleasant city with a mix of small town charm and big city amenities.

Lakeland has been named to Money Magazine’s “Best Place to Live in America” list. It is the headquarters for Publix Supermarkets and hosts a campus for the University of South Florida.
