About the Massage Therapy Program

Blue Cliff views massage therapy as both a science and an art. Not only can it be used to heal and revitalize the body, it can heal and soothe the mind. As more people in the United States recognize the benefits of alternative forms of medicine and healing, the demand for massage therapists will continue to grow.

This diploma program requires that students complete 53 credit hours. This usually takes about nine months (day classes) or fifteen months (night classes). Students build a strong foundation of knowledge -anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology – and techniques -Swedish, deep tissue, sports, neuromuscular, and Shiatsu massage.

Graduates of the diploma program are able to work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, sports teams, salons and spas, physical therapy or pain management clinics, and cruises. Upon completion of the program, students are able to sit for the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork Examination, which allows them to become licensed and registered Massage Therapists.

This is the philosophy Blue Cliff College faculty members embody. Students at BCC are encouraged to grow in every aspect, and the small class sizes and caring faculty ensure that it a reality. Learning by doing is important at BCC, and students have the benefit of faculty knowledge and experience.
