About the Massage Therapy Program

Lawrence was founded in 1854 by the Massachusetts Emigrant Aid Company, which was set up to transport émigrés to Kansas in order to shift the balance so Kansas would be an antislavery state when it entered the Union.
About 2000 settlers came to Kansas through the Company. Since then, Lawrence has maintained its activist and political nature but has taken on new territory.
Douglas County was the only one in Kansas who rejected an amendment of the Kansas Constitution that prohibited same-sex marriage.
