The state of Georgia requires that all practitioners of massage therapy in the state be licensed at the state level. The agency responsible for oversight of massage therapy licensure is the Georgia Board of Massage Therapy. The state has required licensing since July 2007.
Georgia is another state that has very specific requirements for new licensees and license renewal. Massage therapists are required to renew their license every two years and attain 24 hours of CEU’s during that period. Twelve of these CEU’s must include “direct hands-on supervised instruction.”
Georgia also publishes a list of approved massage education providers on the website.
