The state of New York has been regulated massage therapists since 1967. Licenses are issued at the state level by the State Board of Massage Therapy. New York requires a minimum of 1,000 hours of education and training, and all applicants must pass their state exam.
Applicants must have also “completed a course in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within three years prior to licensure.” There is no required CE hours for license renewals which occur every 3 years.
