The state of Rhode Island issues the massage therapy license at the state level and it is overseen by the Department of Health. The profession has been regulated in Rhode Island since 1979.
The state requires 500 hours of education, along with certification in adult CPR and First Aid. Applicants must also take the NCETMB or NCETM exam and obtain a passing score. The license renewal period occurs every year with no CE hour requirements.
