About the Massage Therapy Program

Providing the education needed in order to seek entry-level employment as a massage therapist, the Massage Therapy curriculum at Everest Institute provides a balance of clinical skills, technical knowledge, and academic expertise. In addition to education in anatomy and physiology, students of this program will learn about seated massage, kinesiology, deep-tissue massage, positioning, and draping.

In addition, students will also receive hands-on learning in record keeping, screening techniques, advanced massage, and Swedish full-body massage. With this well-rounded education, graduates of the massage therapy program at Everest Institute in Chelsea may seek employment in a hospital, doctor’s office, health spa, fitness center, or rehabilitation center.

Massachusetts massage schoolsAs recently as 1991 Chelsea was placed in receivership by the state due to a myriad of financial issues. In 1995 a new form of government was established with greater focus on servicing the residents and businesses in the city. The result has been greater economic development and capital improvement and a growth in residents and new businesses. With its proximity to Boston and location near the Boston harbor and Logan International Airport, Chelsea has become attractive to industries that can benefit from this access.

The area was originally named “Winnisimmet,” meaning “good spring nearby,” It was settled by a gentleman named Samuel Maverick in 1624. Mr. Maverick’s house is believed to be the first permanent residence on the Boston harbor. Chelsea was a part of Boston until it was incorporated and renamed Chelsea after the neighborhood in London.  The Battle of Chelsea Creek was the second battle ever fought during the Revolution and Washington’s army was encamped in Chelsea in the Battle of Boston. Chelsea has experienced two devastating fires, the first in 1908 and the second in 1973.

A major factor is Chelsea’s location next door to Boston. As the state capital and the largest city in New England, Boston offers all of the culture, entertainment and history that should be expected from a bustling metropolis. There are many colleges and universities in Boston and the surrounding area.

Consequently, Boston has all of the amenities associated with a major college town including concerts, theater, sports and night life.
