About the Program

Programs are designed to be completed in as little as one year when taken at a full-time rate. The massage program is a certification course providing students with the chance to develop skills in Western and Eastern modalities, as well as basic massage theories and information like anatomy and physiology, body mechanics, and CPR.

Upon completion of the program, students may be able to find entry-level work in a variety of healthcare settings. Although the externship program is meant to help students find a place in the real working world, no employment is guaranteed following graduation.

Faculty

Instructors are hired for the specialized training and experience in each field as well as their interests in civic and community outreach methods. Class sizes and facilities are small, so most students can expect to have the same handful of instructors throughout their massage course.

Facilities

The Fall River campus is dedicated solely to healthcare, and students can choose between massage therapy, medical assisting, or health claims specialist. Learning is done in a primarily hands-on lab skills setting, which is designed to emulate the real working world. Every student must finish an externship, in which he or she goes beyond the classroom to learn practical skills in an on-the-job situation.

About the City

Fall River is a medium-sized Massachusetts town located just 45 miles south of Boston. As a coastal town on the shore of Mount Hope Bay, Fall River has a long and distinguished history in the United States. Early development and a textile mill helped populate the city in its early years, and much of the historic charm remains even today. It also boasts a fairly young and education-focused demographic, thanks to the presence of several educational institutions. In addition to The Salter School, you’ll find two branches of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, Bristol Community College, and the Eastern Nazarene College adult studies campus
