Massage therapy is pretty much universally recognized as a means of reducing stress but massage is becoming more prevalent as a method of addressing pain. An article in the Sioux Falls Argus Leader presents examples of massage as an effective therapy for pain sourcing from a variety of conditions.
The article makes the case form the mainstreaming of massaage as a legitimate medical treatment by stating that, “Doctors and physical therapists have prescribed it for headaches, low back pain, fibromyalgia, whip lash, carpal tunnel and sciatica. Some even encourage it for kids with ADHD or patients with cancer.”
Massage school students can look forward to careers that are becoming more and more integrated into the medical establishment. Many suffering with pain are becoming frustrated at the pharmaceutical options and want a more organic form of treatment. Massage therapy promotes the body’s natural healing tendencies and provides relief in may instances, where relief was difficult to find.
