About the Massage Program

The Pima Medical Institute (PMI) was founded by the husband and wife team of Richard Luebke, Sr. and JoAnn Luebke in 1972. The Luebke’s had a goal of providing first-class medical career education programs in Tucson, AZ. As the demand for affordable medical training grew, additional campuses were opened and Pima currently offers medical career training on 9 campuses in the western United States.

Pima Medical Institute is committed to developing students into fully competent medical professionals to meet the needs of our rapidly growing healthcare system. Pima Medical Institute is recognized as one of the top medical career education institutions in the western U.S. and students can choose to participate in a Certificate program or earn an Associate Degree.

The Mesa campus of PMI was established in 1986. The city of Mesa is part of the Phoenix metro area and sits on a large plateau at an elevation slightly higher than Phoenix. Mesa is an unusually large suburban city and is larger than many major cities in the U.S., including Pittsburgh and St. Louis. The extraordinary growth of population in the Southwest has fueled Mesa’s growth and has enhanced the demand for qualified medical professionals throughout the region.

Massage Therapy Programs

Graduates of PMI’s Massage Therapy Program will have the opportunity to work in a variety of medical facilities including hospitals, doctor’s offices, rehab centers and clinics. Other employment settings include resorts, spas, health clubs and sports facilities. Graduates will also have the option of starting their own business or contracting their services to other organizations.

The goal at Pima Medical Institute is to provide students of the massage therapy program with the knowledge and skills to determine their own path to success. You will learn massage techniques that will qualify you to treat patients requiring preventive maintenance, injury rehabilitation, stress management and overall wellness. You will also learn how to care for specific conditions such as back pain headaches and carpal tunnel syndrome.

The massage therapy curriculum at PMI includes training in a variety of massage modalities along with rigorous coursework in anatomy, physiology and kinesiology.
