About Anthem College

Anthem College opened its Fenton campus in 1981, and since then, its goal has not changed – to prepare students for rewarding, challenging careers in medical or criminal justice careers.

Anthem has a different approach to education: they teach students what they need to know, not what the college wants them to learn. The difference? Instead of arbitrarily deciding what makes a good education, Anthem develops programs based on what employers want. Relevant, industry-specific, and highly focused courses allow students to learn and master what they need for success.

About the Massage Therapy Program

The medical industry is one of the biggest employers in the country, and it is projected to keep growing in the coming years. The field is as varied as the people who work in it, so Anthem Students can find a program that suits their needs and interests.

Massage therapy is one of the programs offered by Anthem College. A massage therapist treats soft tissue that has been damaged due to stress, illness, or injury, loosening and relaxing the muscles and relieving painful muscle tension. There are a wide range of benefits that come from massage: increased energy level, decreased pain, reduced stress, strengthened immune system, and maintain health and vitality.

For the therapists, the benefits are no less important. They can work in a variety of settings, such as sports clinics, spas, resorts, nursing homes, pain management centers, physical therapy offices, and more.  Anthem College’s Massage Therapy program offers a solid base in both massage techniques and anatomy, physiology, and pathology.

As a Massage Therapy student, you will learn the anatomy related to soft tissue injuries and treatment, body mechanics for injury prevention, nutrition, stress management, CPR, and first aid. Students will also master techniques in Swedish massage, hydrotherapy, sports massage, deep tissue massage, reflexology, aromatherapy, chair massage, and spa treatments.

The Massage Therapy program allows students the opportunity to participate in a six-week long supervised clinic, in which they practice the skills they have learned throughout their program of study.
