Metro Business College is a Jefferson-based vocational training center with a total of four campuses spread throughout Missouri. Students here can choose between business and administration specializations and medical-based training, including medical assisting, billing and coding, and massage therapy. The massage therapy program is great for students who want to learn hands-on skills related to this growing healthcare field and to earn a certificate in as little as one year.
Thirty years of experience in the Missouri educational setting has helped move Metro Business College to the top of the charts for local vocational training. Students are prepared for entry-level work in their chosen fields, and with a focus on real-world, hands-on applications.
When the school first opened its doors, the focus was on training students to succeed in the business and healthcare administration fields. Additional healthcare opportunities have helped push Metro Business College to the next level, and students graduating here can use their degrees and diplomas to make a real impact in the job market.
Metro Business College 1407 Southwest Blvd # 3The Massage Therapy program offered through Metro Business College is a certification course lasting a total of 61 credit hours in all. Most students can complete the course in three quarters, or about a year in all. Students are trained to work as professional massage therapists in keeping with Missouri State regulations, and are eligible upon successful graduation to sit for the national certification exam.
Courses include anatomy and physiology, kinesiology, massage fundamentals, massage modalities (including Swedish massage), pre-natal massage, and general business practices. The combination of all these is in keeping with national and professional standards.
Instructors are qualified and dedicated professionals in the field of massage. Many of them have run their own private massage clinics or worked in a larger spa setting. Whatever their background, they are ready and willing to impart their wisdom onto their students, which they do in both a lecture-based and one-on-one learning format.
The Jefferson City facilities are just one of four campuses throughout the state of Missouri. The other schools can be found in Cape Girardeau, Rolla, and Arnold. The emphasis of almost all Metro Business College programs is hands-on learning, which is why class sizes are small and intimate right from the start. The available tools and technology are in keeping with this emphasis, as well, and students will learn on the same equipment they can expect to find in area employers.
Metro Business College has accreditation through the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS). It is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and is also eligible to receive Title IV federal funding. Additional recognition from the Missouri Coordinating Board for Higher Education and the Missouri State Board of Therapeutic Massage help push the school into the local spotlight in terms of massage education.
Students who need help paying for school can apply for financial aid via traditional means (FAFSA or private bank loans) or tap into the school’s specialty Central Finance Loan of up to $4,000. Additional opportunities in scholarships may apply, but only through third-party lenders. If you’re interested in learning more about tuition costs and how you can afford Metro Business College, the school recommends you contact them directly.
As the capital of the state of Missouri, Jefferson City is often mistaken for a booming metropolitan center. While it does boast a population of over 40,000 residents and a number of governmental and big business organizations, it is still very much a low-key town with a low-key focus. Geographically speaking, Jefferson City can be found near the middle of the state, where the Missouri River and beautiful scenery set the tone for an active outdoor community and wine-production facilities. For massage students, the setting is right for a great career. A large concentration of professionals equals a strong luxury amenities market, and the vibrant population translates well to holistic and alternative health avenues, as well.
