About Career Technical College

The College was formally known as Jerry’s School of Hair Design and was founded in 1985 by Jerry Mardis and Wayne McConnell. The school was subsequently purchase by Career Training Specialist, Inc. in 1988, when it was relocated Mid City Plaza which is its current location.

About the Massage Therapy Program

The massage therapy program that is offered at the Career Technical College provides students with the education they need to become licensed massage therapists. Students will study various areas of the body with a focus on the overall well-being of the body.

When students graduate from this program, they will be prepared to take the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. Graduates have gone on to pursue careers in health clubs, spas, medical offices, and some have even opened their own practices.

Students have access to the full services of the Career Development Center, which helps graduates locate employment positions in their preferred field. The Center provides advice and direction to each graduate and helps them send out resumes and provides them with leads.

Accreditation

The Career Technical College is accredited by the Council on Occupational Education and is also licensed by the State of Louisiana Massage Therapy Board. These designations make it possible for the college to award degrees to matriculating students.

Admissions & Financial Aid

Students that are interested in enrolling at the Career Technical College are required to provide the College with evidence of a high school diploma that was earned from an accredited high school or GED equivalent. The student should have an overall GPA of C or better. In addition, each student is required to take an entrance exam in order to enroll in any program.


Students that require financial assistance can apply for student aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Form. This form will provide you with the type and amount of funds that may be available. Students may be eligible for grants and loans.
