CTA offers three programs related to Massage: Advanced Bodyworker AST Degree, Comprehensive Massage Therapist, and Therapeutic Massage Technician. Class sizes are small, programs are short, classes are flexible, there is counseling and mentorship programs available for students, and CTA provides placement assistance.

Advanced Bodyworker AST Degree

Through this program, students can earn their Associate’s in Specialized Technology (AST). This is a 121 credit hour course that usually takes fifteen and a half months. Advanced Bodywork students learn all aspects of massage therapy and focus on wellness, pathology, and massage procedures, as well as the business skills necessary to open and operate a massage business. Students will have the opportunity to work with clients who have various medical conditions and who may benefit from massage therapy.

Comprehensive Massage Therapist

This is a 72 credit hour course that usually takes nine months to complete. Upon completion, students will earn a diploma that will allow them to work in the field of massage therapy. The Comprehensive Massage Therapist program covers Swedish massage, therapeutic techniques, soft tissue structures, relief of pain, discomfort, and stress and the promotion of wellness and health. In this course, students focus on the needs of the individual.

Therapeutic Massage Technician

This is a 47 credit hour course that usually takes six months to complete. Like the Comprehensive Massage Therapist program, this course covers Swedish massage, therapeutic techniques, soft tissue structures, relief of pain, discomfort, and stress and the promotion of wellness and health. Students will be qualified to work as massage therapists upon completion of the course.

Facilities

CTA has three campuses in Pennsylvania. The New Kensington campus is located at 950 Fifth Avenue. The equipment and instruments are all industry-current so students learn to use the tools of their future trades. Also, CTA maintains a Student Massage Center, which is open to the public on most Saturdays. There students can practice and expand their skills, including interacting with clients and discussing their needs.
