About the School

At Broadview University, degree programs exist in the fields of business, entertainment arts, health sciences, information technology, and legal sciences—many of them offered at the Bachelor’s degree level or even higher. Within the health sciences field, students can opt for degrees in health care management, fitness, medical administrative assisting, medical assisting, nursing, and massage therapy.

This range of coursework hasn’t always been a part of the offerings here. The school first opened its doors in 1977 as a medical assisting education facility better known as the Bryman School. Over the years, the school added additional courses and degree options. Until recently, it was known as Utah Career College. The change to Broadview University reflects the changing course list and the school’s most recent affiliation with the Globe Education Network.

About the Program

Students interested in taking massage through Broadview University can choose between an Associate degree or a diploma program. The Associate degree program offers training in 18 months, covering everything from Swedish massage and deep tissue massage to lymphatic drainage, Thai massage, and advanced bodywork. These courses are complemented by business and general anatomy classes that are designed to help strengthen the student’s understanding of massage at a practical level.

The diploma program offers a more condensed educational list, with many of the same techniques but without the advanced training. Students can expect a focus on practical skills that not only help prepare them for the real working world, but for the national certification exam, as well. This program lasts a total of one year when taken at a full-time rate.

Faculty

Faculty members are chosen for their real-world experience in massage. They are encouraged to provide help outside of the classroom setting or to hold office hours for questions and support. As is the case with other Broadview campuses, general education providers are more academically inclined.

Facilities

Students are trained using industry standards in keeping with spas, medical offices, and private massage practices. Although the education is fast-paced, students learn in an atmosphere similar to what can be expected from the working world. Supplies and massage tables are provided for student learning, though you may need to supply things like books and other learning materials.

Accreditation

Broadview University is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS). The ACICS has been in operation since 1912, providing a national, overseeing body that ensures educational standards are in place for vocational-level schools.

Financial Aid

Financial aid is available to those who apply and demonstrate financial need. Common forms of fiscal support include government loans and grants, private loans, and scholarships offered specifically to Broadview students. Broadview University is unique in that students may be eligible to receive credits for work done in other schools or even through military training. All previous coursework is weighed on a case-by-case basis, though the school commonly offers credit recognition through the University of Phoenix, Kaplan, and National American University.

About the City

Utah Massage SchoolsOrem is the kind of place where students not only have the chance to learn massage skills, but they also have the chance to enjoy the place they call home. Located about 45 miles south of Salt Lake City at the base of Mt. Timpanogos in the Utah Valley, Orem offers the best of both worlds—access to a large metropolitan center as well as a cozy, family-oriented atmosphere. Parks and recreation opportunities abound here, and there are good schools and great neighborhoods for those who have already started a family. And because Salt Lake City is so close, many students go on to search for careers in the larger metropolitan center.
