About the School

All programs offered through Provo College are designed to be completed between 9 and 24 months, with a focus on career training and skill building. The goal is to help students enter the workforce quickly and with most of their necessary training intact. In addition to massage therapy (which falls under the Health and Fitness category), students can choose top careers in Healthcare, Business, Criminal Justice, Design, and Technology.

Provo College first opened its doors in 1984 as the Dental Careers Institute. It soon added additional programs and took the new name of Advanced Careers Institute. By 1989, it adopted its current name of Provo College. Associate degree options were added over the next several decades as part of a move to enhance the learning experience under the new parent company, the Center for Professional Studies, Inc.

About the Program

At Provo College, students who are interested in the health and wellness industry can choose between a therapeutic massage program or a personal fitness training program. Both of these options provide training for finding entry-level work in the field, with a focus on wellbeing and balance for the whole body.

The therapeutic massage course is a diploma program that can be completed in as little as nine months. Although the focus is primarily on hands-on modalities, students can expect to learn aromatherapy, kinesiology, pathology, self-care, first aid, hydrotherapy, reflexology, and business management. This well-rounded approach is meant to provide students with the chance to enter the working world as a spa professional, part of a medical team, or as independent massage therapy practitioners, though employment is not guaranteed.

Faculty

Because the focus of the school is on real-world applications, faculty members are expected to have experience in the massage industry and be able to teach modern techniques and business practices. Class sizes are small and faculty members are encouraged to make the most of the student-instructor relationship by offering outside support and office hours.

Facilities

In addition to the Provo campus, there is an additional facility in American Fork, UT. All equipment is up-to-date and in keeping with industry standards, and set in an academic setting that combines massage labs and more traditional classrooms.

Accreditation

Provo College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC), which is recognized by the U.S Department of Education and is therefore eligible to award diplomas and degrees on successfully graduating students.

Financial Aid

Students who need help paying for school have options offered both through Provo College and through federal funding sources. Federal funding is offered in the shape of grants and loans, and only after students have filled out the required FAFSA forms. Private funding may also be an option, but requires a third-party lender and a stable credit rating. Students interested in scholarships will find that Provo College has several options, most of which are based on personal merit or are earmarked for recent high school graduates.

About the City

Utah Massage SchoolsProvo is the kind of place where families settle down and young professionals put down lasting roots. Located about 45 miles south of Salt Lake City, Provo is near enough to the metropolis to offer plenty in the way of culture and big-city amenities, but far enough to retain its own charm. In fact, with features like the annual Sundance Film Festival and a number of awards like Best Place to Retire, Enticing City for New Careers, and Best Place to Raise a Family, it’s no wonder so many people thrive here. Because it is a fairly large and sports-centered city, you’ll also find that the local massage industry does fairly well.
