The Massage Therapy program is offered in both a degree and diploma program. The Associate degree takes a total of 18 months to complete, while the diploma can be finished in one year. In both programs, students learn the foundations of massage as well as specific modalities (Swedish massage, chair massage, hot stone massage, spa techniques, Thai massage, energy work, sports massage, deep tissue massage, pregnancy massage, and myofascial release).

The Associate degree program builds on this curriculum to include exercise physiology, craniosacral/lymphatic drainage, communications, and various courses in natural science, social science, and the humanities. In both cases, graduating students are eligible to sit for the national massage therapy certification and licensing exam.

Instructors in the massage program are experienced therapists who have spent years in clinics, spas, and other massage facilities. They use this hands-on experience to help students get a real feel for how to find employment in a real working setting. General education providers are also highly qualified and have a strong academic background.

All the facilities at Globe University are designed around emulating the working environment. Massage tables and equipment, tools, and materials are the same as the ones students will encounter on the job, and much of the coursework takes place here. There is a strong lecture-based component, as well (especially for students in the Associate degree program), so students can expect typical classrooms, computer labs, libraries, and study lounges.

Globe University is accredited by Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) and recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. This accreditation makes the school eligible to award degrees and diplomas in keeping with national standards, though credits may not be transferable to outside educational providers, as there is no regional accreditation in place.

Financial Aid

Any student who applies to Globe is eligible to meet with one of the school’s financial aid coordinators for a one-on-one financial planning session. This time is designed to help identify available scholarships, loans, and grants, and to get the necessary FAFSA paperwork for applying for federal funding. Students who choose not to borrow money for their education can also use this time to ask about the school’s flexible payment plans or the school-based scholarships available to recent high school graduates, members of the military, and those dedicated to community service.
