Programs

For students interested in the Massage Therapy program, there are two options: an 18-month Associate degree and a 12-month diploma course. Students who opt for the shorter course will learn the foundations of massage (including medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and general business/ethics), as well as the more popular modalities. These include Swedish massage and Thai massage, as well as energy work, deep tissue massage, and myofascial release.

Because the Associate degree program is longer and more comprehensive, students learn additional massage techniques and get a more generalized education in terms of English, the sciences, business, and communications. Both programs prepare graduates to sit for the certification exam in keeping with state and national standards.

Faculty

Faculty members within the massage program have field experience that takes the shape of running, owning, and working for massage institutions throughout the state. Those working in a more generalized educational capacity (for the Associate program) often have academic credentials in their fields and take a more lecture-based approach to education.

Facilities

Globe University provides almost all the materials students need to learn their trade in a real-world environment. The massage lab is in keeping with the top spas and massage clinics operating today, and much of the technology used for the classroom setting is what students expect from a top-notch academic setting. Computer labs, resource rooms, and online facilities also exist to help facilitate the learning process.

Accreditation

Accreditation for the school is held through the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS), which grants it the ability to bestow degrees and diplomas in keeping with the U.S. Department of Education regulations. This is not a regional accreditation, and credits may not be able to be transferred outside of the Globe University chain.

Financial Aid

Financial aid is available for those who qualify. Most students tap into some combination of federal grants and loans (offered by filling out the appropriate FAFSA forms), private loans, scholarships, and payment plan options. Globe University does offer a few select scholarship opportunities for high school students, military students, and those with an exemplary record of community service. Anyone interested in learning more about available funding is encouraged to contact the financial aid department directly to learn about their options.

About the City

Wisconsin massage schoolsWausau is a small Wisconsin city that many students find appealing for its laid-back and rural setting. The Wisconsin River runs right through the middle of the town, and there are a total of 37 city parks to explore (not including the 18 additional county parks in the area). These parks offer a great chance to explore the outdoors, regardless of whether you’re into organized sports, hiking and biking activities, whitewater rafting, or climbing. Of course, not all the activity takes places outdoors. Although students hoping for a more active nightlife might have to hit the metropolitan centers nearby, there are plenty of residential and commercial facilities in the area to make life fun.
