The Cortiva Institute, previously known as Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy, is the ideal venue to begin your education and career in massage therapy. Home to famed wildlife photographer John Pezzenti, Newington is a picturesque place to call home.

About Cortiva Institute

This school began its operation in 1980. It is committed to providing its students with a quality education. The school is owned by the Steiner Education Group, which is a subsidiary of Steiner Leisure Limited that provides spa services.

Cortiva Institute is able to boast a 94.7% passing rate on the National Certification Exam. It is the only school in all of Connecticut that it solely focused on massage therapy training.

About the Massage Therapy Program

The school offers both part-time and full-time programs. Enrolled students learn about acupressure, anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, theory, pathology, neurology, massage techniques and CPR.

You will receive over 500 clock hours, as required by the state for licensing. Students enrolled at this school are able to gain real world experience working in the student clinic and also participating in clinical work at local hospitals. Students at Cortiva Institute at Newington learn a variety of skills, helping patients manage their pain, relax, and heal from various injuries. Additionally, graduates benefit from a career that allows flexibility in hours and work location.

Accreditation

The school is accredited by the Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation. This organization is a part of the US Department of Education and operates to accredit schools for massage therapy and bodywork programs.

This campus is housed in a two-story building that contains roughly 30,000 square feet of educational space. In addition to spots for practice, study, and lectures, the Newington campus has plenty of room for relaxation. The campus also houses a retail store, meditation room, study rooms, and a graduate clinic.

Admissions & Financial Aid

To become admitted into this school, applicants must 18 years old, have a high school diploma or equivalent, participate in an interview, have a good understanding of the English language and be in a good, healthy condition. The school’s staff can provide you guidance in applying for financial aid and completing the FAFSA form. You may qualify for grants or loans that will help with your tuition expenses.
