Kentucky Massage Therapist Licensing and Certification Requirements

The agency that oversees licensing is the Kentucky Board of Licensure for Massage Therapy. The state of Kentucky require massage therapists to have at least 600 hours of education in order to make an application for licensure.

Applicants are required to have taken the NCETMB or NCCA approved certifying exam with the applicable passing grade. License renewals are done every 2 years with 24 hours of CE required.

As stated on the Kentucky website: “Practice of massage therapy applies only to the human body, therefore, no CEU credits will be given for courses taken for any type of ‘animal massage.’ ”
