About Cortiva Institute

This school began its operation in 1980. It is committed to providing its students with a quality education. The school is owned by the Steiner Education Group, which is a subsidiary of Steiner Leisure Limited that provides spa services.

Cortiva Institute is able to boast a 94.7% passing rate on the National Certification Exam. It is the only school in all of Connecticut that it solely focused on massage therapy training.

About the Massage Therapy Program

The school offers both part-time and full-time programs. Enrolled students learn about acupressure, anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, theory, pathology, neurology, massage techniques and CPR.

You will receive over 500 clock hours, as required by the state for licensing. Students enrolled at this school are able to gain real world experience working in the student clinic and also participating in clinical work at local hospitals.


The school is accredited by the Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation. This organization is a part of the US Department of Education and operates to accredit schools for massage therapy and bodywork programs.

Faculty & Staff

There are well-qualified instructors that teach at this school. They have extensive experience in the field of massage therapy and are able to pass on their skills and knowledge to their students. Many of the faculty members are either sole practitioners or work for well recognized offices. Students can gain access to mentors and tutors to help them through their educational process. Staff members are also ready and willing to provide the student body with any assistance that they may need.


This campus has a 6,500 square foot facility for its students which sits on 11.5 acres. It has a state of the art library which has all of the resources and materials that a student needs in order to complete their coursework.

To become admitted into this school, applicants must 18 years old, have a high school diploma or equivalent, participate in an interview, have a good understanding of the English language and be in a good, healthy condition. ?The school’s staff can provide you guidance in applying for financial aid and completing the FAFSA form.
